Terms of Service
These terms are an agreement between you and Luma. By creating an account or using Luma, you agree to them. We've kept them as plain as we can.
1. What Luma is
Luma is a personal health journal: you record symptoms, habits, food, and other notes, and Luma helps you see patterns over time, including AI-generated insights when that feature is enabled. Luma is currently free while we develop and test it. If we ever introduce paid plans, we'll update these terms and tell you clearly before anything changes for you.
2. Luma is not medical advice
Luma is a journaling tool, not a medical service. Nothing in the app - including AI-generated insights - is medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Always talk to a qualified health professional about your health, and never delay seeking care because of something you saw in Luma. 3. Your account
- Keep your login details to yourself - you're responsible for what happens under your account.
- Give us a real email address so account emails (like password resets) reach you.
- Luma isn't directed at children under 13; if you're under 16, please use it with a parent or guardian's knowledge and support.
4. Acceptable use
Please don't:
- use Luma for anything unlawful;
- try to access other people's accounts or data;
- probe, overload, disrupt, or interfere with the service or its security;
- copy, resell, or scrape the service or use automated tools to flood it with requests.
5. Your content is yours
Everything you record in your journal belongs to you. You give us permission to store and process it purely so we can run Luma for you - showing your history, generating charts and insights, and backing the features you use. That permission ends when you delete the content or your account. How we handle your data is covered in the Privacy Policy.
6. Our stuff is ours
The Luma app, name, logo, and design are ours. Using Luma doesn't give you any ownership of them.
7. AI features
AI-generated summaries and insights are produced automatically and can be incomplete, inaccurate, or plain wrong. They point at possible patterns - they don't establish cause and effect, and they're not a substitute for professional advice. Use your judgement and verify anything important.
8. Availability and changes
Luma is under active development. Features may change, be paused, or be removed as we improve the app, and occasional downtime can happen. We'll do our best to look after your data through any changes, and you can export a copy of it at any time.
9. Ending things
- You can stop using Luma at any time, and can permanently delete your account and all your data from your profile page.
- We can suspend or close accounts that break these terms or put the service or other users at risk. Where reasonable, we'll warn you first.
10. Liability
Luma is provided “as is”. To the maximum extent permitted by New Zealand law, we're not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of Luma, and our total liability to you is limited to the amount you've paid us to use Luma (currently nothing, while Luma is free). Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under New Zealand law that cannot be excluded, including under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 where it applies.
11. Changes to these terms
If we change these terms, we'll update the version and effective date at the top of this page, and for significant changes we'll let you know in the app or by email. Continuing to use Luma after a change means you accept the updated terms.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by New Zealand law, and any disputes will be handled by New Zealand courts.
